Aberdour Women’s 1st team made the journey North to Kingussie to take on Badenoch. The team knew they had a tough game ahead with Badenoch being the current Valerie Fraser title holders. They remained quietly confident however, taking heart from a narrow 1-0 defeat against the side earlier in the season.

The game got off to a difficult start, Dour going 2-0 down after an unfortunate goal and a penalty. Despite this, the team stood strong and battled hard for every ball. Both teams showed strong performances across the park, ensuring an exciting game. Going into the second half, Badenoch led 3-0.

The remaining 40 minutes saw Badenoch pushing for more goals, with the Dour defence working tirelessly to stop them. Unfortunately for Dour, a comeback wasn’t on the cards as Badenoch continued to demonstrate why they hold the Valerie Fraser title. After 80 minutes of hard work, the game ended 9-0.

Despite the scoreline, every player gave 100%, never giving up, and battling hard for every ball.

Woman of the Match goes deservedly to Taryn Neilson. As a team, we always rely on Taryn in goals, and it can definitely be a thankless job. Taryn was fantastic on Sunday, making countless, impressive saves and keeping the team continually motivated.

Thank you to Badenoch for their hospitality, the enjoyable game, and of course, their phenomenal pitch which is always a pleasure to play on.

The 1st’s are back in action in two weeks time when they make the trip to Ardnamurchan.
